FAQ

If this is your first time getting lash extensions we have put together a little Q & A to better help you understand what to expect before, during and after your visit.

What are lash extensions?

Eyelash extensions can be made from different types of materials but here at ELP we use synthetic mink lashes. Synthetic mink lashes are safe and will hold their curl and shape better than most other materials used.

Lash extensions are designed to add length and thickness to your natural lashes.

What are the different types of lash styles?

  • Classic lash sets are 1:1 ratio, meaning one extensions is applied to one natural lash. This style looks more natural.
  • Hybrid lash sets are a combination of both classic and volume, giving a wispy and more dramatic look than classic.
  • Volume lash sets are multiple lashes “fanned” together and added to one natural lash. The number of lashes in a fan can range from 2-10. Volume lashes are meant to give the eyes a more dramtic look.

How long does it take to apply lashes?

• Full Sets take 1 ½ hours to 3 hours.

• Fill ins take 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours depending on how often you come in and the amount of fullness desired.

How long will my Lash Extensions last?

Many factors affect how long your lashes will last. Your daily activities, makeup usage, oil production, your commitment to aftercare, and how quickly your lashes grow and shed all have an impact on your retention. It is recommended to have a fill-in every 2-3 weeks and no longer than 4 weeks. During your fill-in any grown out lash extensions will be removed and replaced with a new extension.

Are Lash Extensions safe?

Yes! The adhesive and lash extensions are applied 1mm from the lash line therefore it never touches the skin. Some people can develop allergies to the adhesive, if that’s the case we will remove the extensions as soon as possible.

How do I care for my Lash Extensions?

Lash extensions must be cleaned and brushed regularly. A thorough explanation of how to properly clean your lashes will be discussed at your appointment. If you are still unsure of how to do this a video is available on our instagram page.

Caring for your lashes:

-Avoid getting your lashes wet 24-48 hours after your appointment. No steam or saunas.

– Do not use mascara on your lash extensions. (if you are unable to go without mascara you can purchase an extension safe mascara in the office)

– Do not pick or pull on your lash extensions. This can cause your natural lashes to be pulled out as well.

-Brush your lashes daily. You will be given a mascara wand to take home at each appointment.

-Wash your lashes daily with an approved lash cleanser and lash cleansing brush. (all of these items are available to purchase in the office)

-Avoid eye makeup and creams with oils. When wearing eyeliner choose one that is water based or use a powder liner.

-Try to sleep on your back. Sleeping face down or on your sides can cause premature lash loss.

*Remember your lifestyle and activities such as exercise, swimming, hot yoga, medication, and hormones can affect your lash retention. Certain skin care and makeup products can break the bond of the adhesive. If you are unsure of your products bring them with you to the appointment.
